PGSOC Organic gurantee

PGSOC was created to establish a common guarantee system for grassroots organizations and farmer groups involved in organic crop production, distribution, and consumer markets. It distilled the best practices and indigenous knowledge systems of member farmer collectives into common standards and processes to ensure safe and healthy food for everyone. PGSOC harmonized these standards and processes into a common guarantee system for local sales of organic products in India, and permits the use of its PGS Organic label on products, which has become a mark of quality among consumers. The PGSOC Organic Guarantee program continues the legacy of maintaining the quality and organic authenticity of the products with the PGS Organic label.

The program's objectives are to ensure food security and improved livelihoods of organic producers and collectors/harvesters, promote agro-ecological practices, environmental conservation, and fair prices for producers and collectors/harvesters. It also aims to provide nutritive and guaranteed organic produce to consumers with a primary focus on domestic consumers. To achieve these objectives, PGSOC works with around 15 grassroots organizations across the country who facilitate the PGSOC Organic Guarantee program.
